Happy New Year!

2010 has been great to the Cook family! We enjoyed many snow days at the beginning of the year and 9 months later we welcomed a beautiful baby girl....A and I have to say she is a fantastic baby!  I am excited to see what 2011 has in store for us.

Today was a special day Cook and I had our first date night ALONE since she was born.  It took a lot of convincing but I was able to talk him in to a date night without her.  We dropped A off at GiGi and Poppa BA's and off to Macados we went. We were only gone one hour or so but we did it and no calls to check on her!  Of course she did great and was excited to see us when we picked her up!

Happy New Year!

Football with Daddy

A watched/listened to ALOT of football and basketball while she was in my tummy, and she was born during ESPN sportscenter.....there is nothing else on that early in the morning :) Anywoo WV Mountaineers played their bowl game last night and she enjoyed watching it with her daddy even if they lost.

Go WV!!

Maybe in a couple of years she will get to experience football in person!

Thumb and Uncle

A has found her thumb....really her thumb knuckle but she can get it in her mouth for about 2.5 seconds. I will post a pic as soon as I get one.....I got the pic finally!
Finally a pic of her sucking her thumb knuckle but you gotta look close:)

Oh don't take my pic!

Her favorite uncle is in for a visit and they spent quality time together today! My little bro showed her where her middle finger is....a true Thompson!  Lets just hope for first word is not sh*t :) My mom tried hard but I think my little bro and I have too much Thompson in us to behave all the time!

2 months old!

It's hard to believe that A is already 2 months old. We went today for her check up, she weighs 9 lbs 10 oz and is 20 inches long. The doctor said she is doing fantastic and her weight gain is excellent. I could have told you that she eats all the time!

In the short 2 months A
  • smiles and laughs at you
  • loves tummy time
  • can hold her head up and look around
  • waves her arms like George W Bush
  • will follow you with her eyes
  • sleeps 6-8 hours at night!!!!
  • is a Daddy's girl, she can just hear his voice and looks around to find him
going home from the hospital

2 months later and loves bath time

Snow Day

The snow dance A did last night must have worked! After the A woke up from one of her many naps we decided to go out in it. She seemed to like it but then decided she was hungry.
suited up and ready to go!

Cook gave me an early Christmas present today, I usually get jewelry not today he bought new windows.  I guess that's what happens when you buy a house :( ....I'm still hoping for jewelry or maybe even a new Louis!

The little monster is gone and A is back to being her sweet self! A did a snow dance for all of our teacher friends.  We read "Charlie Brown Christmas" and she loved it, the best part she put herself to bed and fell asleep by 9:30.  I think A is resting up for the snow tomorrow she is ready to go play in it!

Little Monster

Don't get me wrong I love A to death but the last 2 nights she has decided she wants to stay up late as in go to bed at 11:30! Normally she goes to bed between 8 and 9 I don't know what the last 2 nights have been about but something has gotta give!!! I am suppose to go back to work next week, although Cook said I could stay off until Feb if I really wanted too.....its tempting but I'm going back to work.  I think.....

A is not hungry, I fed her, not wet, I changed her, she cries and then smiles at you and wants to play.  I should have known when I was pregnant and she was really active only at night, she was going to be a night owl! Fingers crossed tomorrow she goes to bed at her normal time!

Much love, KC and the little monster!

Favorite Things

Decorating the Christmas Tree!

Cook and I decorated our tree last week and I have to say it looks awesome! Our tree is not decorated in certain colors instead it is full of ornaments we have collected in our 3 years. Whenever we visit a new place or go on vacation we pick out an ornament for the tree.  When we decorate the tree we always have a laugh about the road trip, vacation or the GPS saying right turn in 400 yards....recalculating.   FYI Cook hates the TOMTOM he would rather use a map, but the map doesn't tell you how many more miles or right turns to the nearest Chili's!

This year is the best yet because we hung "Baby's First Christmas" ornament and we had a few laughs about how A came into the world!

sleep...

It took almost 8 weeks but I did it, I convinced Cook she was old enough to sleep in her crib.  Although I think it was her being really fussy a few nights ago and not wanting to sleep that did it.  She takes naps in her crib but she was still sleeping in our room at nights and she is a noisy baby.  She makes really weird but funny noises all night long. So Wednesday night I put her down in her crib to sleep and she did great falling asleep, which is usually a battle. I guess I know what my mom went through with me, I like to stay up late and sleep in....I can only imagine how getting A up when I go back to school is going to be like....yay me!  Here is my confession she slept in her crib all by herself and I slept in the recliner in her room. I think if the weight limit on her crib would have allowed I would have slept in the crib with her.  I slept in the recliner for 2 nights and its not too bad, but Friday night she slept in the crib and I slept in my bed with no night light for the first time in 8 weeks and it was awesome. Oh the best part she slept from 9:45-4:45 and made noise all night long!

Sam I Am

I have always called my grandfather, Sam, its not his name and I have no idea where it came from but that's what we call him, sometimes its Sam I Am. He is the best grandfather anyone can ask for,  he would come to my soccer games and yell the loudest but the best thing about Sam I am is his storytelling. He makes up the craziest and funniest stories, if you ask my cousin Cam he thinks you can fly by chewing double bubble gum....because Sam told him.  We didn't get to try it out :(

A loves to visit her great grandparents and she already loves the stories Sam I am tells.
time for a story!

New pics

Cook and I had baby bump pictures taken at 35 weeks and as I look back at the pic I was HUGE! Wow I didn't realize how swollen I was. No wonder everyone at school was always telling me to sit down and relax.  Here are a couple of the pics.....that show some of the swelling. And in the famous words of our favorite waiter at the Mexican restaurant "You were so BIG and she is soooo small."

After I had A we went back for newborn pictures and they are awesome! A was only 5 days old in the pictures. I can't believe how little she looks, she was just 5 pounds. Here are a few....

If you ever need a photographer I recommend Tina Holtzlander, she rocks. Her website is www.holtzlanderphoto.com  If you want to see the rest of the pics look on her site.

Snow

Favorite things...

SNOW!!!

I have always loved snow. As a kid I loved to go sledding with my little bro and build a snowman. As a teacher I live for the mornings when it scrolls across the TV screen RCPS closed, or I get the text from my fellow teacher friends that says "No School Today!!!" Truth is I think teachers are a little more excited about snow days than kids.  It is a day off work that doesn't count against me and I still get paid.  We had a lot of snow last year and I loved all of it. Cook and I walked through the neighborhood covered in snow and to the store to pick up beer, which came in handy for snowman eyes. I threw snowballs at Cook, went sledding at the church we lived near, I built a tall snowman, and shoveled because I couldn't make it to the gym.  So Saturday morning I was excited to see the snow.  Cook and I had a few errands to run so we bundled up A and off we went but first I had to show her the snow and from the looks of it she was amused by it.

Visit with Santa

My favorite things....visiting Santa

Today was the big day, lunch with her favorite cousin Cam. A enjoyed her lunch with the coolest 3rd grader in the Cave Spring area and she slept right through it because she knew what was in store for the afternoon.......A's visit with Santa.  I was a little nervous because she can be like her dad, a little cranky and unruly when she wants to be :) but I have to say she did great. She sat on the big guys lap, smiled a little, didn't pass gas or throw up on him. I have to say it was a successful trip.  Of course there were pics and Cook's famous words "How much is this going to cost me?"  I don't think he will ever get use to 2 girls shopping :)

A and Santa. I know she was thrilled.
A with GiGi and Poppa BA. She is secretly thinking get me outta here :)

New things

In her short 6 weeks of life, A has been a boob child but with me going back to work in a few weeks.....I tried to stay off through January but didn't work at least not yet. I'm still working on Cook. Anyway I figured the babysitter would really like it if she had a bottle before she came.  The lactation lady in her British accent said "Oh no you have to give it to her tonight she may not take it, you should have introduced it to her 2 weeks ago."  How was I suppose to know this?!?! After calling a friend because I didn't know how to warm up frozen booby milk I fixed the first bottle.  Cook and A were ready to test it out .....she took it like a champ on the first try and I was even in the room.

A met Ms. Reed, the biggest WV Mountaineer fan I know besides Cook.  She is a very special friend of the family and A can't wait for her first trip to WV to see her again. Although next time A will be dressed in her WVU gear. She is a true Mountaineer, I'm sure she heard from my belly Cook yelling  at the tv during football and basketball seasons and the phone conferences after the games with Ms. Reed.
